Yummy! Sushi Box | How Sushi Packaging Design Elevated Takara’s Brand Identity
When Ermal, the owner of Takara Sushi, approached me, his vision was clear: he wanted sushi packaging that not only preserved the freshness of the food but also captured the elegance of Japanese cuisine. The goal was to design packaging that would stand out in the Swiss market while maintaining a sense of authenticity.
🎨 The Design Challenge
Sushi packaging is unique because it has to blend functionality, hygiene, and aesthetics. Unlike standard packaging, sushi boxes must be lightweight, eco-conscious, and visually attractive enough to reflect premium quality. The challenge was to create a modern sushi packaging design that would appeal to health-conscious and design-savvy customers in Switzerland.
🛠️ The Process
To achieve this, I combined Adobe Illustrator for precise vector label design, Photoshop for mockup refinements, and Blender for creating high-quality 3D product visuals.
-
Box Label Packaging Design
-
Clean typography inspired by Japanese calligraphy.
-
Minimal color palette with accents that reflect freshness and quality.
-
Functional label layout that balances brand visibility with ingredient clarity.
-
-
3D Box Mockups
-
Realistic renderings allowed the client to visualize the sushi box before production.
-
Multiple perspectives ensured the design worked across different shelf and online placements.
-
Used Blender’s photorealistic rendering to present near-real outcomes.
-
-
Animated GIF for Website Slider
-
Designed an engaging animated GIF showcasing the sushi box.
-
Enhanced the website’s interactivity, giving online visitors a “live preview” of the packaging.
-
Increased user engagement and brand recall.
-
🌐 The Outcome
The final result was a sushi packaging design that not only elevated the brand’s identity but also aligned with modern digital presentation standards. The box looked premium, professional, and perfectly aligned with Takara’s values of quality and freshness.
The 3D mockups provided a professional edge, while the website GIF created a dynamic way to showcase the packaging design online. This combination helped Takara Sushi present a strong brand both offline (through physical packaging) and online (through visuals and animations).
